Who we are

Tomer Duwek

Zen Art Teacher

I was born in Israel to a religious family, and, from the time I could hold a pencil, I remember drawing. I drew everywhere and on everything, even on Talmud books, which are considered holy.

I was introduced to oil painting when I was 12 and immediately fell in love. I got a BFA majoring in photography, but I always painted. In fact for my final exhibit, I presented oil paintings along side film photography.

When I moved to the US, I became an art teacher at a Montessori high school, which was a tremendous accelerator for my art. I love teaching art and stayed in that position for 15 years.

Since stepping out of the classroom, I have focused on making art as a service to others: I believe that art has the power to transform individuals and allow them to grow, allow them to see a different reality, and allow them to heal. I accept commissioned work of all kinds and offer one-on-one art classes that empowers students to gain proficiency in oil painting and allows personal growth through coaching.
